We have all Adult Acne Mythsheard the adult acne myths a hundred times -- Stay away from chocolate - Cheeseburgers - Fried foods - Sexual Activity Etc Etc because it will cause adult acne

Fortunately, theses are myths. It is true that some foods may make adult acne worse for some people, research has shown these myths to be false.

Here are some of the biggest myths about adult acne that we have found not to be true.

Certain Foods Cause Adult Acne.

Clinical studies have repeatedly shown that there is no association  between food and acne. It is true though that some foods may cause already existent adult acne to worsen. The only way to tell if this is true in your case is to eliminate the foods you suspect are causing you trouble for a couple of weeks to see if the flare ups get better. If you see some improvement, go back to eating those foods again to see if they make your condition worsen again -- if it does, then you know you have found a culprit.

You Have Acne Because Your Skin Is Dirty.

Not true. Acne is caused by and excess of sebum not by dirty skin. Black heads may make your skin look dirty because they can contain melanin, a natural pigment. Do not try to overly scrub and was your skin thinking that it will help your acne, You may have just the opposite effect because you will irritate the skin. You should only mildly wash your face.

Lying in the Sun Will Clear Up Your Skin.

This one is semi false. It is true that exposure to the sun will dry out the current pimples on your skin, it is not true however that sun exposure will prevent new pimples from forming. Also, sun exposure is a dangerous thing and may lead to skin cancer. From everything I have read you should not expose yourself to prolonged sunlight. Moreover, you should always apply a sun block with an SPF of 15 or higher to protect yourself when exposed to the sun.

Acne And Stress Are Related.

I think the jury is still out on this one. There are studies which come to different conclusions. I am of the school of thought that stress will indeed aggravate your adult acne. This however is simply my own personal belief. But hey want not try to reduce your stress any way. Worse case scenario is that life is less stressful - Best case is that you are also acne free.
